Industrial Control Power Supply with Dual Input

This industrial control power supply was a semi-custom design for a customer requiring the power supply to operate from either a 12Vdc source or 115Vac utility source. This application also required the power supply to operate in a high temperature environment of an enclosed chassis where the ambient could rise 25 degrees C higher than outside ambient.

DSC Power Solutions utilized our existing DI200 (Dual input, 200 watt power supply) platform to re-design the PCB to mount into an enclosed chassis that would fit the customer’s mechanical constraints. The DI200 model was designed to operate in high temp environments and provide conduction cooling via a baseplate.

One of the unique aspects of this industrial power supply is the operating temperature range of -40°c to +85°C. This is achieved through conduction cooling of the baseplate. The advantage of this approach is the cooling is focused on the baseplate rather than the ambient operating temperature or the internal temperature rise when determining cooling requirements.
