2000 Watt Custom Aerospace Power Supply Overview
Application: 2000 watt custom aerospace power supply for military aircraft.
Project Abstract: This customer required a 2000 watt custom aerospace power supply to operate on a military aircraft. It would convert 115VAC, three phase, 400Hz power to a single 28Vdc output. Application also required enclosed chassis with MIL-DTL-38999 circular connectors. Being a military program, this custom aerospace power supply would be designed to meet MIL-SPECs and all relevant MIL-STDs for the following be MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-1275.
Our solution was derived from our three phase military line of power supplies which was designed to be modifiable to meet the varied applications of our customers. The MGPS-3P series is a two board platform which utilizes a front end section and a dc output section. Both boards can be easily and quickly customized meet to specific customer requirements. These boards can be mounted into various enclosures and feature a solid, flat surface area for conduction cooling. This allow the power supply to be conduction cooled via the baseplate and provides the widest operation temperature range.
Essentially, we used existing boards to derive the custom aerospace power supply product and mounted the boards into an existing chassis with mil-circular connectors cut-outs. Final assembly was primarily wiring I/O connections to board connections. .
